Well, we are using it for a bathroom countertop and it’s not going to see a lot of water, but we’d like it to be protected as much as possible. There are water resistant finishes but not waterproof. Just make sure to water proof the cut surface since the inside is laminate particle board. We now have upwards of 25+ gouges, dents and scratches in various locations, and many of them are deep enough that a light sand/ re-finish of the counter top would not do away with them. Whatever you use you will need to strip the finish first.
