Legendary series like Darkwing Duck, Captain Planet and the Planeteers, and Gargoyles all aired during the decade, but there were plenty more sci-fi and fantasy cartoons that never quite caught on with audiences. A loose adaption of the classic Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, the Don Bluth-directed Thumbelina whisked viewers away to a magical land in which the minuscule Thumbelina embarks upon an adventure to find love. Pirates of Dark Water should definitely be included. it’s a french cartoon, I loved it…Once Upon a Time, Man! When the film ultimately hit VHS, it was bolstered by an ad campaign in which it was positively reviewed by children, leading to a surge in sales. Does anyone remember this really weird cartoon about a boy and his dog (I think it was foreign) on Nick back in the 80s where they were often in the snow and he kept looking for his mother but couldn’t find her? If anyone has suggestions I would appreciate it.
