Rarely do people talk up the fact that his endings only work so well because the lead up to them is so strong and weird and uniquely. This version was restored from the old DVD by the looks of it, not the big screen it looks zoomed in to make it look like wide screen losing some of the top and bottom, a lot of films are just transferred from old VCRs or DVDs and put onto a blue ray disc now instead of taking them from the big screen cinema original. Definitely worth adding to your collection.

JUDUL FILM tem um público mais vasto. He also has to cope with the a new young replacement pilot whom he knew at school and whose sister is a romantic interest to him. This film doesn't age at all it's over forty years old and still as good as when it was first released. Aces High is a heavy but inspired piece of art, not to be missed. Remastered?

Correctly displayed "Christian" flavored nationalistic imperialism of Rule Britannia. I loved this film and looking forward to seeing the remastered version in blue ray. I used to watch this interesting 1976 movie on TV years ago and I was amazed by the well structured storyline that clearly showed the horrors of fighting and dying in the air during the first world war and the aerial footage were done using actual planes and real cameras, which is unique compared to all the special and sometimes pointless CGI animation that thankfully this film never has. Authentic location photography gets an A and the aerial combat scenes are well filmed, although most us of need to take a course in dogfight tactics to really understand what is going on. This movie combines the all-too-real with the surreal as if it's constructing a chromosomal double helix--until an explosion wipes the slate clean and the process repeats itself with new chromosomes, similar outcome. Excellent scriptwriting and direction make the viewer feel that this impending doom embraces his own fate as well. Some atypical scenes, such as the visit to the "night club" and the hosting of the downed German pilot,, overall nicely done with appropriate period vehicles and locations.
